Çeşme was governed by the state for years and was attached to the Ottoman Empire in 1425. In 1867, there was an accident connected to the İzmir sanjak of Aydın province. Çeşme became a district in 1881, the same year with the birth of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and Çeşme Municipality was established. With the administrative changes made in 1890 and 1895, Çeşme continued to be a district of İzmir. There was no change until the War of Independence, after the proclamation of the Republic, according to the articles 89-91 of the Fundamental Organization Law dated 20 April 1924 and numbered 491, the province of Aydın was dismembered, and the İzmir sanjak became the province of İzmir. Çeşme district has also become the district of this province.
